Epilogue

A cross-town sprint to the waterfront by way of downtown. This race is less about setting a good time and more about raw survival. Getting out of the city in one piece is the first and only order of business.

"BACK TO THE BOAT!" - Dynamo

- Festival Card #096

Epilogue is the final segment in the Festival of MotorStorm: Apocalypse. Instead of being a circuit, this is a point-to-point course that the MotorStormers flee down to escape the earthquake-stricken City.

Exodus - Day Two, Sunset - Destructive Events - Mash[]

Mash races his car through the City alongside several other MotorStormers in a bid to escape to the safety of the Carrier. Buildings collapse, fissures open up and spew water out of the ground for a boost cooldown, and at the end, the bridge will twist until it completely collapses after Mash makes it to land onto the Carrier. Mash will unfortunately wreck his Mirage 101 as he lands on the Carrier, but otherwise will survive the Festival. (Link to this event: https://youtu.be/dYnxTnbXAAk)

Duel With Death - Day Two, Sunset - Destructive Events - Tyler[]

This event is one of three "Duels" in Apocalypse. Tyler and Muerte are the last Stormers left in the City (evidenced by the absence of other racers around), and are fighting it out to make it back alive. At the end of the course, a building will collapse onto the track, blocking the road. At the end, Tyler manages to get past the building before Muerte, leaving the latter trapped in the falling building. Tyler will then try and boost his way across the ruined suspension bridge to get to the Carrier. However, Tyler is still too late to make it to the Carrier, being mere seconds late, causing him to plunge into the sea. It is later revealed in the following Motion Comic that Yoshimi rescued him in a dinghy. It is also implied that Muerte survived the incident, as his arm emerges from the rubble. Exit Strategy - Day Two, Sunset - Destructive Events - Big Dog[]

The third and final Duel, this is the direct follow-up to Route 666 and takes place right after the credits roll. Big Dog, still on his chopper, continues to evade a DuskLite helicopter, racing through the reverse of both Mash's and Tyler's Epilogues. At the end, both the DuskLite site manager and Big Dog meet their fates.

Notable Destruction and Hazards[]

Exodus[]

  • As the player approaches the exit to the first straightaway, two buildings either side of the track will collapse into each other, creating a sort of archway. (This can be viewed with the Look At function)
  • as the player enters the first underground car park area, a rollerdoor will begin to close off the center route. (This can be viewed with the Look At function)
  • A building left of the track just before the second underground area will collapse onto the building above the enterance to the aforementioned area. (This can be viewed with the Look At function)
  • An office building just after the second underground area will collapse into the track and replacing that small segment.
  • Just after the thrid underground area, two buildings left of the track will collapse towards the player, almost crashing onto the track had they not been stopped by buildings on the opposite side.
    • This rains shattered glass from the buildings down onto the racers and the track. (this has no effect on the drivers or their vehicles.)
  • Just after the previously mention buildings, a crane collapses over the track.
  • Upon reaching the suspension bridge, it will begin to shake, flex and crumble.

Duel With Death[]

  • Along the first straightaway, a Crazies-controlled truck will burst through the wall on the left-hand side of the track and race in the same direction as the player before later crashing into the gas station on the left side just before the archway.
    • Both the entrance and crashing of the truck can be viewed with the Look At function.
    • An explosion on the right-hand side of the straightaway will also occur as the player is racing with the truck.
    • Rarely, the truck will catch so much air that, upon landing, doesnt have enough time to straighten up and will instead prematurely crash into the buildings directly across the road from where it entered.
  • After the first underground area, a building and the open area infront of it will collapse, opening up a new underground segment.
  • After exiting the third underground area, just before the fourth underground area, a building collapses over the track and rains glass onto the track.
  • Upon entering the fifth underground area, the subway station begins to collapse, nearly crushing the drivers.
  • As the player exits the fifth underground area, two buildings either side collapse.
    • The building on the left collapses onto the track, blocking off whoever comes last out of Muerte or the player.

Exit Strategy[]

  • Throughout the race, a DuskLite gunship will fire at the player.
  • Upon exiting the first underground area, the DuskLite helicopter will begin to fire at the player. (This can be viewed with the Look At function)

Walkthroughs[]

Exodus[]

  • A helicopter will lift a gantry from the ground and fly away. The lifting process won't be complete before you roll in. Don't hit the gantry!
  • Two buildings on either side of the road will collapse and start to fall on the road. Don't be alarmed; they'll hit each other and stop before they can block your path.
  • A ruined building sits next to a path around its left. Drive through the building; the alternate path will only waste you time. When you exit the building, jump to the right to avoid the wall.
  • If you're too slow to reach or get through the parking garage, the near door will be closed and you'll have to take the back exit, missing out on a jump to cool your engine. If you do manage to beat the door, jump as straight as you can to avoid crashing.
  • After the parking garages, a building collapses to block the road. A large arrow-shaped light and shadow will guide you right and through a building.
  • Shortly after racing through that building and another immediately behind, you'll find the way forward being through a subway tunnel. Follow the flares to avoid the stopped trains.
  • After you pass by buildings that you just saw collapse, you will have to perform a double chicane, first to the left and then back to the right. Watch out for the support pillars when you enter the subway station.
  • Now just up ahead is a suspension bridge. You'll need a little speed to make the jump onto it, but when you get on it, you're on the home stretch. The bridge will wobble and flex, and then finally collapse, but the only thing that can stop you now is the clock.
  • REMEMBER: Don't be afraid to use your boost. You won't reach the Carrier in time if you neglect to use it. The straight-away at the start is a good place to boost to help you beat the clock. Remember to release the gas when you're airborne to cool your engine faster!
  • REMEMBER: The only thing you're racing is the clock. Although it is a good challenge to see how many other racers you'll be able to overtake on the way, your position does not matter. The other racers are also focused on survival, so they won't attempt to take you down.
  • TIP: If you want to reach the Carrier before the 20 second mark, don't bother watching the destruction cutscenes that happen during the events of this race. They can slowly chew at your time to get to the Carrier, and if you do look at the destruction events, make sure you are still using nitro.

Duel With Death[]

You are racing both the clock and Muerte. Unlike Exodus, you will have to beat your rival. Your car is a little faster than the Supermini Mash used, but the time limit is in turn also shorter: You have 2 minutes 5 seconds to reach the Carrier. There are also some layout changes and new hazards.

  • At the opening stretch, a burning tanker will bust through the wall to the left. You can't overpower it, so stay well to the right to remain out of its way as it crashes near the gas station.
  • The helicopter carrying the gantry will be visible in the sky just as you pass the two collapsed buildings. It may seem random to mention, but it appears just before the ruined building. Once again, drive through and jump right.
  • The garage door in the parking garage is already closed. Use one of the other two exits.
  • The plaza just after the parking garage will collapse. The path through the basement there has a narrower exit, but it's a faster route.
  • As you are about to get on the building ramp to the bridge, debris will slip off the building to the left. Just before you get to the edge of the ramp, a cutscene will begin and the game will take control of Tyler. Sit back and watch Tyler's ending.

Exit Strategy[]

  • You are being chased by a DuskLite helicopter! Although you will not always be in the line of fire, you should be careful with your boost. There is no time limit, so take your time.
  • You will actually be going the opposite way to the previous two epilogues, so you'll start out at the ending train station. The signs are also repositioned to guide you.
  • Just after you pass the double chicane, you'll spot a missile from the gunship. Ease up on the boost; remember, there's no time limit.
  • After passing a few "down" arrow signs, you'll find yourself in the subway. You're safe from the gunship here, but fires are present; keep an eye on the boost gauge. Ease up before you exit the tunnel so that the gunship, waiting for you at the end of the tunnel, doesn't blow your engine up with one missile.
  • Bear left to get over the ramp, then enter the building. Follow the flares to get to a safe exit.
  • After a bit on the road, you'll enter the parking garage again. Go around the first ramp out this time, it's not worth it.
  • Head up into the ruined building, then continue forth for the leaning towers. Your final task is a chicane to the right, followed by a ramp. Continue straight on the building, and a cutscene will begin.
